Free SafePlus Online Self-Assessment Tool launches

The third part of our SafePlus programme – the free online self-assessment tool for businesses – was launched in Wellington on Thursday 6 September, by Minister Iain Lees-Galloway.

The SafePlus online tool has been developed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses that want to improve their health and safety. It helps them to self-assess their performance by asking people from all parts of the business how strongly they agree or disagree with statements about health and safety leadership, worker engagement and risk management.

From those anonymous responses, the tool:

  • provides a collective, self-assessed, performance view,
  • delivers action-focused improvement recommendations, and
  • directs businesses to good-practice guidance and resources, to help them take action.

Businesses have a number of options to tailor their assessment and outcome priorities.

The SafePlus online tool is free to use, and your information is kept private and confidential.

The feedback we had from the organisations that trialled the tool in August was very positive, they found it easy to use, quick to set up, and useful.

The online tool is designed to complement the SafePlus Onsite Assessment and Advisory Service, and will potentially also be useful to businesses for scoping key focus areas for an onsite assessment.

You’ll find the tool and more information online at safeplus.nz(external link)

We’ll be promoting the tool to small and medium-sized businesses over the coming months, with a digital marketing campaign that incorporates brand-recognition for SafePlus.
